One-To-One Tutoring
Program Details:
These programs are intended to provide immediate support to the student struggling in their daily schoolwork.  The goal is to achieve many interdependent factors:
-----1.  Improve (it not restore) the student's self-confidence and self-esteem, that they can do well in class and
- - - - - achieve very respectable grades.
-----2.  Work directly with the student as they do their homework.  Our strategy is multifaceted:
--------·  Solve each homework problem along side the student and compare processes and answers.
--------·  Partner with the student as they work each step of a specific problem.  Offer praise when things go well;
- - - - - - make suggestions immediately when the student errors, suggesting correct methodologies.
--------·  Emphasize to the student the need to recognize a problem for what it is, and to focus on the process and
- - - - - - the methods to solve this type of problem, and not be distracted by how the problem is presented.
-----3.  Emphasize to the student that
- - - - - these tutoring sessions must
- - - - - complement the work being
- - - - - done in the classroom.  Often
- - - - - the student will be asked to
- - - - - describe how the teacher is
- - - - - presenting a topic, and to
- - - - - comment and verify how the
- - - - - tutoring session is -supporting
- - - - - and enriching the classroom
- - - - - experience.

Comments describing the nature of each tutoring session will be retained in the student's file, and will be forwarded to the student's family during the monthly billing process.
The majority of our students attend two sessions per week.  Specific student have evolved into the following schedules:
----1.  Students have started with one session per week to become acquainted with the environment.  After a week or two, the
- - - - schedule was changed to and continues to be twice weekly.
----2.  More than once a student has started with daily sessions for the first week to recover from a very challenging
- - - - classroom situation.  Very quickly that was reduced to twice weekly.
----3. Some students are scheduled for only one session a week, as enrichment to the classroom work.
